A: Clinical performance of the mSHOX2 biomarker SHOX2 DNA methylation values measured for 250 patients: 125 cases (blue) and 125 controls (green). Low ∆∆CT values indicate a high SHOX2 DNA methylation. 

B: Resulting sensitivity and specificity when using alternative cut-offs for patient stratification. The cut-off used here was 9.5. No false positive results can be found for patients with a ∆∆CT below 6. The performance of the CE Kit Epi proLung BL Reflex Assay has been clinically validated at the cut-off 9.5.

^m SHOX2 identified 63 % which were classified negative by routine cytology and 86 % which were  classified suspicious by routine cytology correctly as lung cancer.
